ISSQ - Indian stranded square rod

• The size of material available form ISSQ 5 to ISSQ 120

Note : 5 mm to 120 mm

Hot rolled steel IS 808 : 1989

Now, we are going to see about hot rolled steel beam / column, channel and angle specifications as per Bureau of Indian standard IS 808 :1989.

Hot rolling is a metalworking process that occurs above the recrystallization (near by plastic stage) temperature of the material. After the grains deform during processing, they recrystallize, which maintain an equiaxed micro structure and prevents the metal form work hardening.

Steel material classification :

Beams

1. Indian standard junior beam                                              - ISJB  also called  JB
2. Indian standard light weight beam                                    - ISLB also called LB
3. Indian standard medium weight beam                              - ISMB also called MB
4. Indian standard wide flange beam                                    - ISWB also called WB

Columns / Heavy weight beams

1. Indian standard column section                                        - ISSC also called SC
2. Indian standard heavy wight beam                                   - ISHB also called HB

Channels 

1. Indian standard junior channel                                          - ISJC also called JC
2. Indian standard light weight channel                                - ISLC also called LC
3. Indian standard medium weight channel                          - ISMC also called MC
4. Indian standard medium weight parallel flange channel  - ISMCP also called MCP

Angles

1. Indian standard equal leg angle                                       - ISA also called ∠
2. Indian standard unequal leg angle                                   - ISUA also called ∠

Note : The Indian Standard IS 1852 : 1985 ‘Rolled and cutting tolerances for hot rolled steel products( fourth revision )’ is a necessary adjunct to this standard.
